Hot August days are perfect for Quilts, KB says

A family heirloom quilt is a beautiful thing.  We have more than our fair share thanks to Donna's talent.  It's so hot here in Northern California the past two days.  This heat is perfect for Quilt maintenance.  Our quilts are all cotton - so easy! Early in the morning I wash the cotton quilts on heavy duty cycle.  Then toss in the dryer for about 40 minutes until the quilt is about half dry.  I have many large size quilts- King and Queen size - they take a while.  The nice part is when the half dry quilt can be set outside to completely air dry in our California dry heat.  I throw the quilt over my outdoor wicker seat and wait- after a couple hours I turn it over and wait a little longer.  By sun down I have a fresh, sun dried quilt all ready to warm us up when the Fall weather starts.  Here's a picture of one of our pretty traditional quilts air drying outside.

Artichoke Bread from Pescadero CA, KB recommends!

When we walked into Norm's Grocery Store the aroma was delicious.  From now on stopping for Artichoke Garlic Herb Bread will be a necessity.  This yummy bread has chunks of tender artichokes along with salty, garlicky herb flavors.  Our timing couldn't have been better- 10 am on a Saturday- the bread was still warm from the oven.  So if you are on highway one between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz be sure to look for the Pescadero turn off.  Go down to the stop sign and turn left.  You will see the Bakery is part of the grocery store.  They have a web site too- here's a link. We also tried cinnamon rolls and apple turnovers.  Everything we tried was awesome.  Here's a picture of loaf number 2 on my antique cutting board.   And if you like my antique cutting board... I plan to auction a similar one on ebay soon.  Check my items for sale on ebay link on the top-right of my blog.

Day at Osmosis spa, KB is a new woman, recommend enzyme baths!

This is the nicest thing I have done for myself all summer.  We spent the afternoon at the Osmosis spa and sanctuary in Freestone, CA.   It's a beautiful experience!  The cedar enzyme bath is incredible.  It's so unique and hard to describe... you just have to try it. The zen meditation garden is perfect.  The staff is friendly and professional. I highly recommend Roberta for the facial treatment.   We both felt a complete escape from our everyday habits.  Here's a link to the Osmosis site so you can see pictures of this extraordinary place.  And I think it's great to mention they are a "green" spa.  Warning:  You may not want to leave!
