I enjoyed this book by Deborah Rodriguez. She is a woman who took a chance on a trip to Afghanistan and it ended up changing her life and many others. It is important for women to understand how women are treated in other countries around the world. This story tells about life for women in war torn Afghanistan. It is an amazing story about courage and kindness.
The author describes herself as a hairdresser initially. She turns out to be so much more, a mentor, activist, businessperson, wife, and mother. She stumbles over many hurdles while trying to help women in Afghanistan get started as beauty salon owners. There are many cultural differences, the language, and the lifestyle, that she stumbles over. Still she is able to persist in many of her goals and helps girls and women who would not have much hope otherwise. What a kind hearted, generous person. It is inspirational to read her story. Check it out!
